The purpose of this study was to investigate the type of facial fractures that presented the motorcyclists who crashed in Cali and that were assisted in the University Hospitals of the Valle y, San Juan de Dios and Rafael Uribe Uribe. The investigation was carried out during the period November from 2.001 to June of2.002 and we design a format for the gathering of the information in the emergency room of the hospitals mentioned previously. The study was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Human of the ability of health of the University of the Valley being classified as without risk according to the resolution 8430. Peoplewas 108, 88menand20women; 31.5% corresponds to the group from 18 to 24 years, 30.5% of 25 to 31 years. 32.5% ofthefractures happened in the malar bone, continued by 15.5% with cerebral hematoma and 13.5% of nasal fractures. Other variables as use and helmet type, inability, capacityof the vehicle, mortality and death were analyzed in another study.
