Sialolitiasis is one of tl1e most common factors ineluded in salivary gland disease. The principal cause of chronic sialoadenitis is ilie presence of calculus into Üle duct which produce a consecuent infection because of estasis of salivary secretion. A case of sialoadenitis is reported. The patient was admitted at ilie San Juan de Dios Hospital, in Cali. Theinitialdiagnostic was a submandibular absces, however ilie test revealed a sialoadenitis of submamlibular gland because offlnid retention amI infection. The treatment was ilie gland excision. The histopatologic finclings reported a severe inflamatory proces in wich ilie stroma was densely infiltrated by lymphocites iliat were fonning lynphoids follicles, acines with no function, dilated ducts with scalymethaplasia, cystical cavities without malignancy. One week after the sugery, tl1e patient reported unconfort:able for eating and felt her mouth amI throat dry. Two months after, she was in good comlition.
