SUMMARY
This literature review cross-contamination
evidence of periodontal pathogens, specifically
Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans
between members of the same family,
which includes spouses and children, as
well as to identify the more important
transmission routes. Describing the possible
routes of transmission of periodontal
bacteria could lead to methods to prevent
or reduce microbial cross-contamination
between family members and possibly
reduce disease transmission.
Key words: Periodontitis, microbiology,
transmission, Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans.
