A descriptive study is presented in a population of 52 women older than 50 years that use full dentures or removable partial prosthesis population included women that recieved dental attention at the health center Diego Lalinde, wich belongs to the local Hea1th administration of Cali. An internal and external avaluation was made with emphasis in the palate and the yugal su1cus, to diagnosticate stomatitis and hiperplasia as a consequence of the use of prosthesis. At the same time, the oral mucosa was evaluated as a whole to establish an early clinical diagnosis of oral cancer. In conclusion, this study revealed that women that use full dentures or removable partial prosthesis, 83 % of them presented some kind of soft tissue damage 9aused by a prothestic trauma; 65% of them presented a decrease iQ the alvedar bone; 56% of them presented estomatitis caused by the use of the prosthesis; and only one subject had the characteristics of oral cancer.
